Figures and Animals
I often use Fossilized Walrus Tusk in my Jewelry. My family is from South Central Alaska where Walrus Ivory has been used in the making of art and tools for generations. All of the ivory I use is Fossilized. This means the ivory was buried in the tundra for hundreds to thousands of years. The color of the ivory is dependant on how long it was buried and what minerals were in the soil. The result is a range of wonderful hues that can vary from off white to dark brown, black or bluish grey.
Since every piece of ivory is different, I ask that customers please be flexible about ivory color when ordering a piece
